Number two overall pick Chet Holmgren will miss the entire 2022-2023 season. He suffered a Lisfranc injury in the Pro-Am game in Seattle on Saturday night that was deemed to be serious enough to keep him off the court next season.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
As stated above, Holmgren was the second overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was the highest pick out of Gonzaga University in the history of the NBA. He surely would have made the Thunder’s roster, but still played in the Summer League for some NBA-style game action before the season began.
In his only college season, Holmgren played in 32 games, shooting 60.7 percent from the field and 39 percent from the three-point line. The three-point percentage is especially impressive, given he is a 7-foot center. He also racked up 14.1 points and 3.7 blocks per game that year.
