Chase Young will miss the first four games of the 2022-2023 season due to injury. The ACL injury that kept Young out of eight games last season apparently has not healed enough for him to be ready for this year. The Washington Commanders will place him on the Reserve/PUP list.
The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero tweeted the news on Tuesday.
Young was drafted second overall in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. He played in 15 games during his rookie season, and was eventually named the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. He had 42 total tackles, 7.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 2020.
Last season, Young played in nine games before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. Before he went down, he had 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He also added two forced fumbles, but failed to recover them or score a touchdown.
