The CDL Modern Warfare 2 season is by far one of the most exciting seasons of Call of Duty the community has ever seen. Now, it is starting to heat up as several teams are already on the brink of a make-or-break major. Here is a CDL Major 3 Preview, where we go through teams and players to watch and look out for.
First, let’s start off with the teams that are in the race that still have no trouble placing well and do not have to worry, as of right now, about not making it into the playoffs. FaZe, the Thieves, the Subliners, and Ultra are all teams that are those teams that have little to worry about when performing and placing at a high level.
However, there are middle-of-the-pack and bottom-tier teams that are struggling to find their way this season to where Major 3 could make or break their seasons. Here are some of the teams I think you need to watch for this upcoming major.
Middle of the Pack Teams on the Bubble
OpTic Texas
This is strictly due to the types of moves that were made to their roster at the beginning of the season. The dropping of iLLeY and the additions of Huke and Ghosty are only partly the reason why a lot of eyes will be on OpTic. The fact that this is their own major makes it all the more reason to watch them.
Minnesota Rokkr
The team has been on a downward spiral ever since the last major. They are on the cusp of disbanding as a team as they are currently on a 6 match-losing streak. If the Rokkr doesn’t place well in this major, this could mean a lot of roster changes for them if they want to keep their COD Champs hopes alive.
Bottom Tier Teams on the Brink of Collapse
Florida Mutineers
The first team with the most changes done to their roster this season. They have shifted in gear with this new roster and are looking competitive. It will be interesting to see if they can also compete on a LAN environment.
London Royal Ravens
The absolute worst team in the league. Possibly even comparable to 2021’s Seattle Surge team. They struggle to even stay close in games. Asim has had many moments where he truly was doing it all. Also, if they get another last place in this major, it would be a surprise to see them not benching three out of their four players on this roster just to make a push at the end of the year to make the playoffs.
All this, in turn, is why this is the most interesting Major to date. We might be seeing teams on the brink of collapse. We also might see teams rise to the occasion even though nobody seemed to see them doing so. Who knows what is in store for Major 3 in Texas.
