Caedan Wallace Background

School: Penn State
Size: 6-foot-5, 314 pounds

2023 stats: Honorable Mention All-Big Ten
Wallace gained a lot of experience during his college career with his time at Penn State. He is now in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As a four-star recruit in the class of 2019, Wallace signed with Penn State out of New Jersey. He redshirted in his first year on campus. The following season he made seven starts at right tackle. In 2021, Wallace started every game at right tackle. His play helped the Nittany Lions win seven games. For the 2022 season, he started seven of eight games. He aided the team in winning 11 games that season. In 2023, he was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection. Wallace led the team to a 10-win season.
Following the 2023 season, Wallace declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Caedan Wallace Strengths
He has solid size for an NFL offensive tackle at 6-foot-5 and 314 pounds. There are some who may want to move him to guard and he has great measurables for the interior. His frame is solidly filled out. To go with his frame he has long 34-inch arms to help him sustain his blocks.
Wallace understands how to use his hands to control his blocks. He has good hand placement and doesn’t let them get too wide. Wallace has strong, big hands and can activate them quickly. His hand usage allows him to win his matchups.
His experience shows up on tape, as he has good awareness. He recognizes where pressure is coming from and can pick it up well. When the defensive line stunts or twists, he knows what his assignment is and can communicate well.
Caedan Wallace Weaknesses
He needs to keep his pad level lower to maintain leverage and win his matchups. Wallace can stand too straight up and lose his power. If he stays low, he can maintain that power and give up less space as a pass rusher, while also moving run defenders out of the way.
Wallace can struggle to pass protect against speedy edge rushers. He is a solid athlete but can have problems with giving up the edge to those with a quick first step. His recovery speed on rushers who go outside in also is below par.
His run blocking is just average, as he can struggle in a few areas. As mentioned, he can move people more out of the way to clear bigger holes. He also can do better job of blocking moving targets at the second level.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Fourth Round Pick
