    Beef on Top in Boise

The Game Haus StaffBy The Game Haus StaffSeptember 16, 2016Updated:September 17, 20162 Mins Read

While the PGA tour is taking a week-long break prior to the Tour Championship by Coca-Cola, the guys on the Web.com Tour are still battling for the chance to break into the PGA Tour up in Boise, Idaho at the Albertson’s Boise Open.

Andrew “Beef” Johnston jumped out to a two-stroke lead at 13-under-par after posting an eight-under second round yesterday. On the road to that eight-under day, Johnston started off by birdieing his first four holes.

Johnston has played lights out in his quest to attain PGA Tour card, recording one eagle and 15 birdies to 4 bogeys in his past two rounds.

Trailing just a few strokes behind Johnston are Scott Stallings and Miguel Angel Carballo at 11-under. Stallings had the opportunity to push his way into a tie with Johnston but two shots from a greenside bunker and three putts put that thought on the back burner for at least until today.

Pick your poison at the drivable 15th.

Carballo started off his second round with a thundering presence notching five birdies on the front nine but ran into a bit of trouble midway through the back nine. Back to back bogeys on holes 13 and 14 put Carballo in a tough spot but after regaining a little bit of confidence by posting a par on the par-4 15th, Carballo was able to knock down an eagle on the par-5 16th.

Ollie Schniederjans, who’s already acquired his tour card, is six shots off the lead at 7-under but he sure is playing like he wants to be in the running. Schniederjans found himself in the hospitality tent after his second shot and was forced to take his shot from there. He would end up saving par in what would shape up to be a very nice par save.

The Albertson’s Boise Open started back up at 8 a.m. this morning and will make its way onto the golf channel at 5 p.m. EST.

Until then, I’ll leave you on the lighter side.
