2019 NFL mock draft August 29

The college football season is starting for most teams this Saturday. The NFL season will start the Thursday after that. That means we can start looking forward to what players will be available for the 2019 NFL Draft. This draft order will be decided by current Super Bowl XLII odds.

1. New York Jets- Trey Adams, OT, Washington

The Jets just selected Sam Darnold, so they will want to protect him. The offensive line is a position of weakness right now. Adams could have declared for the 2018 NFL Draft, but decided to go back to school for one more year. He now could be the first overall selection.

2. Miami Dolphins- Shea Patterson, QB, Michigan

If the Dolphins are selecting this highly, Ryan Tannehill will definitely need to be replaced. Patterson is athletic and has a talented arm. He was cleared to play at Michigan this season after transferring from Ole Miss.

3. Arizona Cardinals- Nick Bosa, DE/OLB, Ohio State

Bosa would not only be the best player available, but could create a great pass rushing duo with Chandler Jones. The Cardinals supported their offense in the 2018 draft with the selections of quarterback Josh Rosen and wide receiver Christian Kirk. This means they should focus on defense in this draft.

4. Chicago Bears- Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan

Gary was a highly rated recruit, who should have a breakout year this season. Chicago could use another defensive end in their 3-4 scheme and could get a star in Gary.

5. Buffalo Bills- A.J. Brown, WR, Ole Miss

Whoever is the quarterback, either A.J. McCarron or Josh Allen, will need more than just Zay Jones to throw to at the receiver position. Brown is athletic and has potential, but likely won’t have the best quarterback play or team around him this season for Ole Miss.

6. Cincinnati Bengals- Ed Oliver, DT, Houston 

The Bengals will not want to give up on Andy Dalton most likely. When the Bengals were at their best, they had a great defensive line. Oliver might be the best player in the class and can create a crazy good defensive tackle combo with Geno Atkins.

7. Cleveland Browns- Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson

Lawrence is one of the many talented defensive tackles in this class. Cleveland can afford to address the defensive line after revamping the offense this past offseason.

8. Washington Redskins- Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Washington got Alex Smith this offseason, but he is only a short-term holdover at this point in his career. They need to plan for the future. Herbert is a big quarterback, who operates Oregon’s offense well when healthy.

9. Indianapolis Colts- DeAndre Baker, CB, Georgia 

Baker had a great season for Georgia in 2017 and will be one of the first corners selected. He may have to start off in the slot, but has the potential to become a number one corner.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Gregory Little, OT, Ole Miss

Little was a highly rated recruit and will likely be selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Donovan Smith has been given plenty of chances to figure it out at left tackle. A quarterback may also be considered if Jameis Winston can’t stay on the field and improve.

11. New York Giants- Jonah Williams, OT, Albama

The Giants got Nate Solder at left tackle, but their offensive line still needs improvement. Williams will get his chance to shine at left tackle again for Alabama this season.

12. Detroit Lions- Devin White, LB, LSU

White is a fast linebacker who is all over the field. The Lions don’t have a great linebacker on the roster and could benefit from some more team speed.

13. Tennessee Titans- Collin Johnson, WR, Texas

Tennessee needs to get the offense going. The defense was improved in the 2018 NFL Draft and now they can give Marcus Mariota more receiver help. Johnson is a big receiver who will need to run a fast 40 yard dash time to keep his value up.

14. Oakland Raiders- Greedy Williams, CB, LSU

The Raiders’ secondary could hold them back from the playoffs. Williams is one of the best corners in the country and will get a chance to showcase his skills against a few talented SEC quarterbacks this fall.

15. Denver Broncos- Connor McGovern, OG/C, Penn State

The Broncos ignored the offensive line early in the 2019 NFL Draft and can’t afford to do it again. A developmental quarterback may also be needed.

16. Baltimore Ravens- Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

Terrell Suggs is another player who is aging and needs to be replaced. Even with him the Ravens need to generate more of a pass rush. Ferrell would need to fit the 3-4 scheme, but he can get after the passer.

17. Seattle Seahawks- Raekwon Davis, DE/DT, Alabama

Seattle is starting to re-tool a new defense, but is still thin up the middle. Davis can fit in the middle of their 4-3 scheme.

18. Carolina Panthers- David Edwards, OT, Wisconsin

The Panthers haven’t had a good offensive line in a long time. While Cam Newton will take a beating on plays he runs, they need to protect him from any extra hits.

19. Kansas City Chiefs- Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio State

Arnette has been buried on the depth chart at Ohio State, but he’s talented in his own right. The Chiefs need a player to pair with Kendall Fuller at cornerback.

20. Los Angeles Chargers- Michael Deiter, OT, Wisconsin

The Chargers focused on defense in this year’s draft and need to get some protection for Phillip Rivers next season, before finding his eventual replacement.

21. Houston Texans- Trayvon Mullen, CB, Clemson

Kevin Johnson played poorly in 2017 and Jonathan Joseph has been in the league for 11 years. Some youth at the position is needed.

22. Atlanta Falcons- Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

Atlanta doesn’t have many team needs, but could use some more interior defensive line.

23. San Francisco 49ers- Joe Jackson, DE, San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers have a good start to a team and will want to acquire a good pass rusher to help compete at a high level. Solomon Thomas and Arik Armstead are young, but haven’t produced as much as expected yet.

24. Dallas Cowboys- Taylor Rapp, S, Washington

Dallas is very thin at safety and needs to address the issue. Rapp is part of one of the best secondaries in college football.

25. Jacksonville Jaguars- Ahmmon Richards, WR, Miami

D.J. Chark was selected, but they need players to step up to help cope with the loss of Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

26. Green Bay Packers (via NO)- Bryce Love, RB, Stanford

Love lit up the college football world this season and decided to go back to college. The Packers could use a game-changer at the position.

27. Minnesota Vikings- Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State

The Vikings’ offensive line has been banged up and could be better. They need to add more to help make their roster more complete.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers- Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma

Anderson will be the featured player in Oklahoma’s offense this season. Le’Veon Bell has said that this will be his last season as a Steeler and James Connor isn’t proven to be a star.

29. Los Angeles Rams- Josh Allen, LB, Kentucky

Allen can play the role of rushing linebacker or play in the middle. The Rams need some pass rushing and linebacker help, so Allen would be a solid choice.

30. Green Bay Packers- Montez Sweat, DE/LB, Mississippi State

The Packers really addressed the secondary this year with their selections. They need to get some pass rushers, as Clay Matthews isn’t the same player he was a few years ago.

31. Philadelphia Eagles- Marlon Davison, DE, Auburn

The Eagles have a lot of good pass rushers, but some of them are aging. They can afford to take the best player available.

32. New England Patriots- Drew Lock, QB, Missouri

Tom Brady can’t play forever and the Patriots need to find a new, young developmental quarterback. Lock still has a little bit to prove as a prospect, especially with his accuracy
