The Women’s World Cup final has been decided. The USA will play the Netherlands on Sunday, July 7 at 11:00 am EST.
The USA beat England in the semi-finals 2-1 in order to move on.
Christen Press opened up the game in the tenth minute by scoring for the USA. She headed the ball into the top left 90 over the keeper’s hands.
Ellen White then came back for England nine minutes later. She finished a cross that came out from outside the right of the box.
To finish it off Alex Morgan scored one last time for the USA. She headed the cross into the left side of the goal.
The Netherlands beat Sweden 1-0 in the semifinals. It was a long game that only ended when Jackie Groenen scored for the Netherlands in the 99th minute. Groenen shot outside the center of the 18 and buried it into the bottom left corner.
The USA is predicted to win the final, just by looking at their statistics for the tournament.
Third Place Game (Sweden vs England)
Sweden won against England for the third place game 2-1.
Sweden scored their first goal in the 11th minute when Kosovare Asllani shot off of a deflection made by an English defender. The ball deflected off the right post and into the goal.
Sofia Jakobsson scored for Sweden in the 22nd minute. She used her right foot to curve the ball around a defender and off the same right post.
England scored in the 31st minute by Francesca Kirby. She cut back on a defender inside the box then slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.
England was not able to make another goal happen, which left Sweden the title of third place.
