The 2021-22 Champions League season is truly up and running. Many will be happy to get a fresh chance at European glory for their side after the events of last season. Chelsea became European champions in May with a 1-0 victory over Manchester City, with a goal courtesy of Kai Havertz. However, there will be plenty of teams this year ready to take the trophy out of London.
With the group stages and domestic leagues well and truly on their way, fans are starting to get a good indication of who could have a good campaign. Unfortunately for the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, and Inter Milan, their recent form is not a good indication for the rest of their season. It will take a big turnaround for them to claim Champions League glory. However, stranger things have happened. So, as it stands, who has looked the most impressive and likely to succeed? Here are some of the teams that we might get to see in the Champions League final.
Liverpool
2019 champions Liverpool have made a phenomenal start to their season. Unbeaten in the Premier League after 10 games, and qualifying top of the group after 4 matches, things couldn’t be much better for the reds. Many were unsure how Liverpool would fare in the season’s competitions due to a lack of signings. However, returning figures such as Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip have been massively influential. Their form has been impressive, and they are well capable of making the final. Liverpool are currently the fourth favorite team to lift the Champions League trophy at Betway.
Manchester City
English rivals Manchester City are not exactly too far behind Liverpool in regards to form. They have also had an impressive start to the season. It was uncharacteristic of Man City not to make a number of big signings during the summer. However, the introduction of Jack Grealish has proved effective so far. This, as well as the maturing of younger players such as Foden and Dias has proved City to be a major force.
Bayern Munich
2020 champions Bayern Munich have been a relevant force in the Champions League for decades now. The German champions aim to lift the trophy every year and have been successful on several occasions. Ballon D’or candidate Robert Lewandowski has been a key figure in their success, proving himself to be one of the best strikers in the game. He is surrounded by an amazing squad who, on their day, are unbeatable.
PSG
There isn’t too much you have to say about Paris Saint Germain beyond their strikeforce. Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Lionel Messi. On paper, this may be one of the greatest front threes the world has ever seen. Leaving Barcelona as a free agent, Lionel Messi could be the spark PSG needs to finally get their hands on European Glory. Not to mention the arrivals of Wijnaldum, Donnaruma, and Sergio Ramos. They’ve had a bit of a stuttered start so far this season, but if and when things start picking up, they could become a superteam for the ages.
