Once again, clubs across Europe are looking to fortify their squads by eyeing players across the world. Many of them did not make bold steps in the January transfer window and are looking to bolster their weaknesses with the upcoming opportunity. Robert Lonthorpe from NZCasinoclub looks at some of the expected transfers and the rumors surrounding them.
Chelsea is looking to maneuver several suitors and become the leading team to sign celebrated goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan. The team is confident that it will close the deal this summer, even as they look forward to signing Mauricio Pochettino as the permanent head coach.
There have been rumors that Onana is being hunted by several clubs, but Chelsea is seen as the leading club for the Cameroonian international. The deal to bring him over is expected to close for around £40 million. However, Onana’s salary will likely fit within the club’s wage structure. The 27-year-old Cameroonian national has had a bright goalkeeping career in Europe and at Inter Milan, making him a target for clubs across various leagues.
In the meantime, Chelsea is expected to release Edouard Mendy in the summer transfer window. The club has not yet agreed to extend the contract of the 31-year-old forward, which has lost favor with the club since the stellar performance of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
However, the club could also consider any bids for Kepa himself. Unfortunately, the Spaniard is drawing in a huge salary, which is likely to cause clubs to lose interest in him. There is a possibility that he may survive the next transfer window.
Chelsea has had an average performance in the last two seasons, with a few gaps in performance at the back and forward. It could be checking out good talent across the board to cover them. Pundits are waiting to see how the club will navigate the issue.
In the meantime, soccer has been a new buzz word across the online gaming fraternity, with fantasy football sports betting and virtual gaming taking center stage. Casinos are also bringing in soccer-based slot titles. Platinum Play Casino NZ is leading the way with these and many more amazing slot titles.
Chelsea is also said to be one of the teams interested in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. The striker is closely linked to Harry Kane, as he has a great working relationship with Pochettino. The club is also looking at Atlanta’s striker Rasmus Hojlund in the event they are not able to secure Osimhen.
Hojilund has had a great season in Serie A, scoring seven goals in the last season. The four appearances he has made for Denmark have netted the team five goals. A combination of these exploits and many more have sparked the interest of major clubs, among which are Manchester United and Chelsea.
Pochettino is said to be making his Chelsea debut later in the year, although the club has not made an announcement to that effect. However, the moves that the club is making point to the creation of a squad that the incoming coach may like. This means that Pochettino is likely to give a nod to each of the possible transfers before any talks can proceed to an advanced stage.
Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his defense this summer by signing Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong. The Manchester United manager has had a good performance at the club since joining from Ajax about a year ago. It is in a good position in the Premier League and won the Carabao Cup in February. The team will also face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on June 3.
The manager has spent a whopping £141 million to bring Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Antony to the club. Frimpong is a Netherlands U21 international who is playing in Germany. Real Madrid is also rumored to be after the young player. However, the defender is more interested in joining the Premier League, thereby giving Manchester United headway.
Frimpong joined Manchester City Academy at the age of nine and moved up the ranks. However, he did not wait for his opportunity under Pep Guardiola and moved to Celtic in 2019. He won the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup at Parkhead.
Arsenal is not to be left behind. According to recent reports, its manager, Mikel Arteta, has been handed a £150 million budget to bring in new talent as about five team members are set to leave.
The club is keen to close the gap between themselves and league leaders Manchester City as they push for the Premier League title. Arsenal is open to offloading several members of the first-team squad to raise funds. This move could see the likes of Folarin Balogun, Nicolas Pepe, Kieran Tierney, Reiss Nelson and Nuno Tavares leave the club this summer.
Nelson, in particular, will be out of contract at the end of the year and has rejected an offer to renew it. Brighton and AC Milan are said to be interested in the winger. The rest of the players have not announced their likely moves, but teams all over Europe could be looking at one or more of them.
Arteta’s budget could be looking to bolster his attack and midfield in the summer transfer window. He has not announced any possible moves to the club but will be looking at both Serie A and Bundesliga for potential moves. More moves will become apparent as we near the transfer window.
