Publish Date: February 20, 2025

During the Four Nations break, the San Jose Sharks updated injuries, made recalls, and players spent time recovering or traveling.

Injury Updates

The San Jose Sharks will remain without defenseman Jan Rutta, who is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. Per Max Miller of NHL.com, Rutta is healing slower than expected and is not likely to return soon.

Meanwhile, forward Nikolai Kovalenko is still on IR with an upper-body injury but could return during the team’s road trip.

Another possible return is Nico Sturm, also on IR with a lower-body injury. Sturm is expected to play when the Sharks face the Calgary Flames on Sunday, Feb. 23.

Sharks Recall Graf and Thompson

On Feb. 18, the Sharks recalled right wing Collin Graf and defenseman Jack Thompson from the San Jose Barracuda (AHL). Notably, they did not recall forward Andrew Poturalski, who had been called up alongside Graf and Thompson during the last.

Graf has five points in 20 NHL games, including one goal in his last five appearances. The 22-year-old right wing averages 15:32 TOI.

Thompson has five points in 21 games with two goals and three assists. The rookie d-man averages 16:09 TOI but holds a minus-eight rating.

How Sharks Spent the Break

Mario Ferraro and his wife, McKenna, eloped in Sea Ranch on Feb. 13.
