If you’re playing the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen and searching for where to find Mew, here’s the honest answer before you get your hopes up: Mew does not appear anywhere in the normal game world. There is no route, cave, island, or post-game area where Mew can be encountered through standard gameplay.
Unlike Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave, Mew was never obtainable in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen through regular in-game progression. But is it possible to get Mew in other ways?
In the original Game Boy Advance release of Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen, Mew was distributed exclusively through official Nintendo events. Players had to attend real-world distribution events to receive Mew via Mystery Gift.
The Nintendo Switch version preserves the original game structure. That means:
There is no in-game location for Mew
There is no post-game unlock for Mew
There is no built-in event trigger
The only legitimate way to have Mew in FireRed & LeafGreen is through an official event distribution or by trading from a cartridge that originally received one.

Some players use external tools, cheats, or modified saves to obtain Mew, but those methods are not part of normal gameplay and can affect save integrity.
If you’re completing the Pokédex in Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch, Mew remains a special Mythical Pokémon — intentionally unavailable through standard play in Kanto.
