The world of VGC or Competitive Pokemon is changing dramatically in 2026. Some argue for the better, others are worried. Pokemon Champions is bringing with it a lot of changes, but on which consoles will you be able to play Pokemon Champions? Will it be available on Mobile Devices too?
Pokemon Champions will release on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
This should not be a major surprise, considering Champions will be the new way for players to compete. If they were to leave out even the original Nintendo Switch then fans would riot as it would cause them to have to buy a Nintendo Switch 2.
While they have confirmed that Pokemon Champions will be on mobile devices, they have not stated which ones.
It feels likely that Champions will be on both iPhones and Android phones. If not, then there is a chance that they will add it to one or the other soon after the release.
Learn More – Pokemon Champions: Everything We Know So Far
This is a major question and one that we have been looking at for some time. There is one statement from Pokemon on this.
“These transferrable Pokémon will be limited to those that appear in Pokémon Champions.”
In case it is not clear, that does seem to mean that The Pokemon Company may be controlling the meta. At least initially. This would make sense to help keep the game and VGC fresh. They already do this but some strategies with items like Eviolite may be in trouble.
What we mean by this is that Pokemon below a certain Base Stat or even evolution level may be left out. This is partially speculation but it feels unlikely that you will see a Weedle available in Pokemon Champions anytime soon.
