Volbeat is a Bug-type Pokemon known as the Firefly Pokemon. It uses the light from its tail to communicate with others and is closely linked with Illumise, another firefly-like Pokemon from Hoenn.
Volbeat is usually used as a disruptive support Bug-type. Prankster gives priority to many status moves, letting Volbeat use Encore, Thunder Wave, Tailwind, Substitute and Baton Pass before faster opponents in supported games. Its offensive stats are limited, but Tail Glow, U-turn and Bug Buzz give it useful pressure and momentum options.
Bug
Reliable special Bug-type damage and Volbeat’s strongest common STAB attack.
Bug
Deals chip damage while pivoting Volbeat into a teammate to keep momentum.
Bug
Sharply boosts Special Attack in games where Volbeat has access to it, creating a threat or Baton Pass option.
Normal
Locks the opponent into a move and creates safe turns for teammates or setup.
Electric
Spreads paralysis and gives Volbeat valuable speed control with Prankster in supported games.
Flying
Supports the whole team by doubling Speed for several turns in doubles or offensive teams.
Normal
Passes boosts or momentum to another teammate in games and formats where the strategy is supported.
Bug
Provides spread Bug-type damage in doubles while lowering opposing Special Attack.

Powers up Bug-type moves when Volbeat is at low HP, giving Bug Buzz or U-turn extra damage in a pinch.
Hidden Ability. Gives priority to status moves, making it Volbeat’s most useful competitive ability for support sets.
Volbeat does not evolve into or from any other Pokemon. It is related to Illumise, and in some games breeding with Ditto can produce Eggs that hatch into either Volbeat or Illumise.
Volbeat is a pure Bug-type Pokemon.
No. Volbeat does not evolve into or from any other Pokemon, but it is related to Illumise.
Volbeat is weak to Flying, Rock and Fire-type moves.
Volbeat can be found around Apple Hills, Kitakami Road, Mossfell Confluence and other nighttime areas around Kitakami in The Teal Mask DLC.
