Turtwig is a small Grass-type Pokemon that resembles a turtle with a sprout growing from its head. It is the first stage of the Sinnoh Grass starter line and evolves into Grotle, then Torterra.
Competitive Overview
Turtwig is usually more important as the first stage of the Torterra evolution line than as a fully competitive Pokemon. Its good early Attack and Defense can help during a playthrough, but its low Speed and unevolved stats limit it in most higher-level formats.
Turtwig’s biggest strengths are Grass-type utility, access to recovery and setup moves in some games and the ability to evolve into Grotle at Level 18. Players looking for stronger long-term battle value usually build toward Torterra.
