Pokemon Pokopia Bubbly Basin: How to Start, Price & Everything New

During the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced that Pokemon Pokopia would receive its first paid expansion. Pokemon Pokopia Bubbly Basin takes Ditto to a new underwater town where players can complete requests, meet additional Pokemon and build beneath the surface. Alongside the DLC, a free software update will expand underwater exploration for everyone who owns the base game. With new outfits, furniture, building materials, Pokemon and purchase bonuses coming, here is everything to know about Pokemon Pokopia Bubbly Basin before it launches on August 5, 2026.

Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass Price

Pokemon Pokopia Bubbly Basin focuses on a new aquatic adventure that allows players to develop an underwater town alongside Pokemon such as Popplio. Players can complete requests, meet additional Pokemon and use new items to build in ways that were not possible in the base game.

The Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass costs $34.99 in the United States and includes all three parts of the paid DLC. Part 1 includes the new Bubbly Basin area and launches alongside the free Version 2.0.0 software update on August 5, 2026.

All three parts of the Expansion Pass must be purchased together and cannot be purchased separately. The full version of Pokemon Pokopia is also required and is sold separately.

Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 2 & Part 3

Part 2 of the Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass is scheduled to launch in late 2026. It will introduce accessories that players can wear while dressing up alongside other Pokemon. Additional Pokemon and furniture pieces are also planned.

Unlike Bubbly Basin, Part 2 will not add another town.

Part 3 is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027. This final part of the Expansion Pass will add another town for players to explore and rebuild, along with additional Pokemon, furniture and other content. Nintendo plans to reveal more details about Part 3 at a later date.

Pokopia Free Update vs Paid DLC

The free Version 2.0.0 update and the paid Bubbly Basin DLC will launch on the same day, but they contain different content.

Pokemon Pokopia Version 2.0.0 Free Update

Every player who owns Pokemon Pokopia will receive access to the following features after downloading the free update:

• The new move Dive
• The ability to move freely underwater
• Underwater building and town development
• Underwater crop fields and relaxation areas
• The ability to place railway tracks between land and underwater areas

The free update allows players to explore and build underwater in the existing game, but it does not grant access to the new Bubbly Basin town.

Pokemon Pokopia Bubbly Basin Paid DLC

Players who purchase the Expansion Pass will receive access to Bubbly Basin and its additional content, including:

• The new underwater town of Bubbly Basin
• New requests and adventures beginning with Popplio
• Additional Pokemon to meet
• New furniture and outfits for Ditto
• A new Dream Island
• Watermelons that can be grown in underwater crop fields
• Buoyant Blocks for creating floating underwater buildings
• Bubble machines and other underwater devices
• A new power-up for Surf
• Smoothies as a new prepared food
• The ability to befriend Manaphy

Water-specialty Pokemon such as Mudkip can cover underwater crops with bubbles to provide them with air. Pokemon with the Grow specialty can then help the crops grow faster.

Players can also use Pokemon with the Generate specialty, such as Chinchou, to power underwater streetlights, bubble machines and other devices.

Pokemon Pokopia Bubbly Basin Purchase Bonuses

Players who purchase the Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass can claim two purchase bonuses.

The first is an in-game recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper. After purchasing the Expansion Pass, players can obtain the recipe by selecting Downloadable Content from the main menu. Claimed recipes can then be checked at a workbench.

Purchasers will also receive a serial code by email for 30 rare Pokemetal ingots. The code can be redeemed by selecting Get with Code/Password through the Mystery Gifts feature.

The serial code must be redeemed by Tuesday, August 31, 2027. The in-game reward must then be claimed by Thursday, September 30, 2027.

An internet connection and a user profile linked to a Nintendo Account are required, but a Nintendo Switch Online membership is not needed. It takes approximately 30 minutes of playtime to unlock the Mystery Gifts feature. The code can only be redeemed once, although rare Pokemetal ingots are also obtainable through normal gameplay.

How to Access Bubbly Basin and Learn Dive

Before entering Bubbly Basin, players must download the free Version 2.0.0 software update and complete several requirements in the base game.

1. Unlock the ability to jump.
2. Learn the move Surf.
3. Complete the request “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach.
4. Raise Bleak Beach’s environment level to at least Level 5.
5. Speak with Manaphy and learn Dive.

Dive allows players to move freely underwater, build structures, create crop fields and connect land to underwater areas using railway tracks.

Dive is available to every Pokemon Pokopia owner through the free update. However, players must own the Expansion Pass to enter Bubbly Basin through its underwater gate. Expansion Pass owners will also be able to befriend Manaphy.
