Back when Pokemon Generation 4 was released, many were surprised to see Charizard and Venusaur on the shelves. Were these new games or new covers for the old ones? They were the first remakes. After years of waiting, it looks like Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen may be released on the Nintendo Switch & Nintendo Switch 2.
The Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen Nintendo Switch 2 news comes from leaks.
There have been plenty, but a very well-known leaker, Riddler Khu, Tweeted about both of these games arriving soon.
For the past few months, BallGuy and even CentroLeaks have been hinting at something like this. Lately, the hints have heated up to the point where we are now. Riddler Khu all but confirmed that come Pokemon Day 2026, we will get an announcement about these classic games returning.

While not confirmed, Centro then tweeted about how these games would, unfortunately, not be free. They would not even be a part of Nintendo Switch Online.
Instead, they would be available for purchase individually. Along with this, they will be compatible with Pokemon Home. While this will allow for newer players to experience these games for the first time, it is a bit surprising that they are not included in NSO.
Should these leaks be confirmed, the additions of FireRed and LeafGreen do bring with them the hope for other older Pokemon games. Some have never found their way to other Nintendo Consoles but it feels like they are doing a big push with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2.
