One of the bigger surprises from 2025 was the reveal of Pokemon Champions. This new game will be taking over as the main Competitive Pokemon Battling game moving forward. Here is everything we know about Pokemon Champion, so far.
Pokemon Champions is the new “battle-focused” game that will redefine the VGC.
It will be the true battle simulator that players have been looking for since Pokemon first released nearly 30 years ago. For many, it will bring back memories of Pokemon Stadium but will likely not have the minigames to go along with it.
What it will keep are Pokemon types, Abilities and Moves while feeling like the Gym Battles from Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The simple answer will be that you can battle in numerous different ways. There will be ranked play, private battles and casual play. This game will not have battles like what have been seen in Pokemon Legends Z-A. At least, not at launch.
The only confirmation that we have for the Release Date as of now is that it will be in 2026. That being said, there is a general timeline that we can assume based on a few things.
Pokemon Champions will release on both Nintendo Switch systems and on mobile devices. This means that it will have Cross-Platform capabilities as well.
Below is more information on Pokemon Champions that may be useful for players.

Gone are the days of having to train Pokemon from their initial stages and decide on moves in that moment that you cannot change moving forward.
Instead, they are bringing everything into one space and making VP. This will help you to customize your Pokemon’s stats just like IVs and EVs have for these past few decades. Along with that, Moves and Abilities will be able to be switched in and out but will require VP as well.
How you get VP is still a bit of a mystery but once that is known we will make sure to keep this update to provide that information.
Will every Pokemon be in Pokemon Champions? As of right now, the answer to this question looks like it will be, no.
Here is a list of Every Pokemon in Pokemon Champions that has been confirmed.
The reason for that is on the official Pokemon Champions website, “Expand your Pokémon roster with new friends! You can bring some of your past partners into Pokémon Champions through Pokémon HOME“. The “some” portion of this make it seem likely that not every Pokemon will be available.
Whether this will be intended to make players have to earn Pokemon, TPC wanting a smaller pool to start or by Format is unknown at this time. Knowing The Pokemon Company, this will have something to do with the VP needed for recruitment cost but that is yet to be seen.
