New Pokemon Gen 10 Starter Rumors Have Started!

Publish Date: February 17, 2026

With Pokemon Day only 10 days away, the chances of getting news, or even a full reveal, for the Pokemon Gen 10 starters feel very likely. With that comes the usual wave of trailer leaks, rumors, and speculation. A lot of it has been coming from 4chan and Reddit, but this time the focus shifts to X and the starter chatter that has been going around. Here are the latest Pokemon Gen 10 Starter Rumors.

Pokemon Gen 10 Starter Rumors

A tweet from Dusty Goat, a prominent member of the Hidden Power podcast, shared a simple starter concept:

  • a leaf with a dog

  • fire with a bird, something like a cardinal

  • a water monkey

It is hard to tell if this is a prediction based on things being heard or just a clean piece of speculation. Either way, it is the kind of post that makes people start digging for other rumors that might line up with it.

A Separate Rumor that got Missed

Another rumor being circulated and retweeted described a “Pokemon Day trio” using vague physical traits instead of clear animals.

It describes three starters like this:

  • a slimy, large, bulbous tail, deep purple eyes, and almost feminine

  • a thick green brow, little dark feet, almost like an angry baby

  • a puffy front side, tongue out constantly

If that is the order, it does not neatly match the Dusty Goat idea. It also creates confusion on typing, because the usual expectation is grass, fire, water, but the descriptions feel mixed depending on what is being emphasized.

Trying to Match the Descriptions to Types

The first description, slimy with a bulbous tail and deep purple eyes, feels more like a water starter than a grass starter. It sounds like something that could lean into a more aquatic design, especially with the tail being the focus.

The thick green brow with little dark feet instantly reads more like grass, but it also gives off a vibe that could lead into something darker later, even if that would be surprising.

The puffy front side with the tongue out constantly sounds like a “cute” design choice that could fit a fire type, possibly something dog-like. The tongue detail also makes it tempting to connect it to something like a Komodo dragon, since the tongue element is iconic, but turning that into a starter that still feels like a starter is a different challenge.

Why This Feels Like a Stretch

A big part of why these rumors feel off is the theme assumption. The region has felt like it is pointing toward Indonesia, and the starter rumors do not obviously connect to that in a clean way. There is always the chance that assumption is wrong, or that plans changed, but the rumor reads more like a guess in the dark than something grounded.

It also feels like a strange trio. A dog, a rodent-like angry baby concept, and a slimy reptile-ish thing is not impossible, but it does not feel like the clean, thematic starter set that usually gets designed to sell the region fantasy immediately.

What to expect at Pokemon Day

If Gen 10 is going to be revealed in a big way, the expectation is still a standard trailer package:

  • the name

  • the starters

  • the legendaries

  • the region

  • maybe a look at the big city or the opening area

That kind of reveal would immediately confirm or kill rumors like these.

Final takeaway

These starter rumors feel like a stretch, and they do not feel especially real. If a stamp had to go on them right now, fake is the most likely label. Still, starters are always the biggest early reveal, so it makes sense that the rumors are starting to ramp up this close to Pokemon Day.
