Larvitar is the first stage in the Tyranitar evolution line. It is a Rock and Ground-type Pokemon known for living underground, eating soil and eventually evolving into the powerful Pupitar and Tyranitar.
Competitive Overview
Larvitar is usually used as an early evolution Pokemon rather than a finished competitive threat. Its main value is that it evolves into Pupitar and then Tyranitar, one of the most recognizable Rock-type attackers in the series.
Larvitar can still be useful during story playthroughs thanks to its Rock and Ground typing, access to strong physical moves and useful abilities. Its biggest issue is its low base stat total compared with fully evolved Pokemon.
