Kabuto is an ancient fossil Pokemon restored from the Dome Fossil. It is a Rock and Water-type Pokemon with a hard shell, small body and sharp underside claws. Kabuto evolves into Kabutops at Level 40.
Competitive Overview
Kabuto is usually more useful in limited formats or lower-level play than in standard fully evolved formats. Its best traits are Swift Swim, solid Attack for a first-stage Pokemon, useful Rock and Water typing and access to support options such as Rapid Spin.
Kabuto’s biggest issue is that it is not fully evolved and has several important weaknesses, including a major Grass weakness. In most full competitive formats, Kabutops is the stronger choice after Kabuto evolves at Level 40.

Kabuto’s abilities help it either move faster in rain, block critical hits or gain Speed after taking certain attacks depending on the game and format.
Doubles Kabuto’s Speed in rain. This is usually Kabuto’s most offensive ability because it helps it move before many opponents on rain teams.
Prevents Kabuto from being hit by critical hits. This gives Kabuto a steadier defensive option in games where critical-hit prevention matters.
Raises Kabuto’s Speed after it is hit by a physical move while lowering its Defense. This can help Kabuto become faster, but it also makes physical hits riskier.
