If you’re playing Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch and trying to evolve Eevee into Espeon, there’s something important you need to understand right away: you cannot evolve Eevee into Espeon directly inside FireRed or LeafGreen.
Even though Espeon is a Generation II evolution, the mechanics required to obtain it are not fully supported in these games.
Espeon normally evolves when Eevee levels up with high friendship during the daytime. However, Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen do not have a real-time internal clock system. Because of this, time-based evolutions like Espeon and Umbreon cannot occur within these games alone.

So how do players get Espeon in FireRed & LeafGreen?
Your options are:
1. Trade from Pokémon Colosseum Espeon is one of the starter Pokémon in Pokémon Colosseum. You can transfer it to FireRed or LeafGreen via trading.
2. Trade from Another Gen III Game with Time Support If you evolve Eevee into Espeon in a compatible Generation III title that includes a working clock system, you can then trade it into FireRed & LeafGreen.
There is no evolution stone, no alternate item, and no workaround inside the Nintendo Switch version of FireRed & LeafGreen.
If Espeon is part of your planned Kanto team, you’ll need to rely on trading. FireRed & LeafGreen preserve the original mechanics — and that means no in-game day evolution for Eevee.
