Grookey is the first Pokemon in the Grookey evolution line. It is a Grass-type Pokemon introduced in Generation 8 and is one of the three starter Pokemon available at the beginning of Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Competitive Overview
Grookey is usually seen as an early-stage Pokemon rather than a top competitive pick, but it can still be useful in formats that allow lower evolutions. Its Grass typing, access to utility moves and Grassy Surge as a Hidden Ability can give it a clear role in the right format.
Grookey’s biggest strengths are its support value, Grass-type attacks and access to its evolution line’s signature style. Its biggest issue is that its base stats are much lower than Thwackey and Rillaboom, so it often needs careful support to compete with fully evolved Pokemon.
Here are the key facts to know about Grookey, including its type, abilities, height, weight and species information.
