Cyndaquil is the first Pokemon in the Cyndaquil evolution line and one of the three Johto starter Pokemon. It is a Fire-type Pokemon with flames along its back that flare up when it is startled, angry or ready to battle.
Competitive Overview
Cyndaquil is usually more of an early-game or Little Cup style Pokemon than a major fully evolved competitive threat. Its best value comes from Fire-type offense, decent Speed for an unevolved starter and access to strong special attacks in games where those options are available.
Cyndaquil’s biggest strengths are moves such as Flamethrower, Flame Charge, Eruption, Fire Blast and Will-O-Wisp. Its biggest issues are low base stats before evolving and weaknesses to Water, Ground and Rock-type moves.
