Can Popplio be Shiny in Pokemon GO?

Robert HanesBy Robert HanesMarch 29, 2023Updated:March 29, 20232 Mins Read

Pokemon GO continues to bring out new Pokemon from some of the newer games. While Pokemon Sun and Moon have been out for a few years, the Pokemon from it are still getting added over the last year of so. Something that players have been wanting to know is, Can Popplio be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

The Sea Lion Pokemon, Popplio was first introduced to Pokemon GO with the “Welcome to Alola” event on March 1, 2022. It came with the other starters Rowlet and Litten. These three are the first Pokemon that can be picked in Pokemon Sun and Moon and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. It evolves into Brionne and then into Primarina. It is a Water type and then a Water and Fairy type at its final evolution.

In terms of Pokemon GO, Popplio is available to be found in the wild and recently had a Spotlight Hour which gave the player double XP.

When looking for the Shiny version of this Pokemon, players will have to pay a lot of attention. As seen in pictures from pokemongo.fandom.com, the different versions of Popplio are not extremely different.

The skin color is a darker blue and the frill around its neck is pink. While it looks more obvious in the pictures, when seeing it walk around on a mobile device, it may be a bit tougher than one would think. Compared to some Pokemon whose shiny forms are not just a different shade but a different color altogether, Popplio certainly could sneak by players.

So the answer is yes that players can find a shiny Popplio in Pokemon GO. Hopefully, luck will shine on them as they search for the shiny Sea Lion in the wild.
