Something that a small group of players love to do in Pokemon games is save before meeting a legendary. They do this in order to soft reset the game. Done so by turning the game off and on until they acquire a shiny version of legendary pokemon. As a whole, this is mostly just for collectors sake as Shiny Pokemon have the same exact stats as the default version. This leaves players wondering, is it possible to get Shiny Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus?

Unfortunately, Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Legends Arceus are Shiny Locked. Therefore, no matter how often players attempt to restart the game, they won’t run into any Shiny Legendary Pokemon. For those who looked forward to torturing themselves in an effort to acquire Shiny Legendaries, this is bad news. But for the rest of the players, this might actually be a blessing in disguise. The amount of time and effort that goes into acquiring a Shiny Legendary Pokemon is absurd. And since the players cannot increase Shiny rates for Legendary Pokemon in Legends Arceus, they’d have to rely on the classic 1:4096 rate.

With various different ways to increase the rates for the average pokemon, the likelihood of running into the desired Shiny Pokemon isn’t near impossible. But keep in mind, some pokemon simply don’t have Shiny iterations in this game. Legendary Pokemon are part of that category.

Pokemon Legends Arceus has an autosave feature. In the typical Pokemon game, this would be a huge curse since it’d lock out nature and IV potential drops, alongside eliminating the possibility of ever getting a Shiny Legendary pokemon. IV has been eliminated from the game, and breeding is also a thing of the past (or of the future technically). Players do not need to smack their heads against the RNG of random encounters alongside probabilities in stats anymore. So really, there’s no harm in leaving the autosave function on in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
