Mega Pokémon are back in a big way—26 new Mega Evolutions have been added in Pokemon Legends Z-A. This Mega Evolutions Tier List from Pokemon Legends Z-A ranks only those 26; Mega Raichu X and Y are excluded for now due to limited info. Rankings consider design, stats, typing, and battle prowess. The notes below reflect those criteria and focus on how each Mega feels and performs among this new set.

Mega Excadrill — Such a great Pokémon. Ground/Steel typing, a really nice stat boost, the single highest Attack of the group, much faster and bulkier than expected. Design goes all-in on the drill motif and it works. Deserves to be up here in S tier.
Mega Froslass — Peak design. One of the fastest of the new Megas and hits like a truck with very good Special Attack; a little bulkier than expected. Exceeded expectations by a lot—“ice ghost princess” vibes done right.
Mega Emboar — Outstanding redesign (staff, headdress; feels like a general). Beefy, hits hard, among the highest base HP of the group. Would have been even better with a different secondary typing, but everything else is excellent.
Mega Barbaracle — Took a rarely used line and crushed it. 600 BST, very strong physically and defensively, faster and tankier than expected. The aura and stance sell it; exceeded expectations and earns S tier.

Mega Chesnaught — A very good Pokémon that leans perfectly into its identity (bulky physical attacker with spear-shield flair). Utility is strong; just a few tweaks (e.g., redistribute from SpA) would push it into S.
Mega Dragonite — 700 BST and strong across the board. Can be built to do whatever is needed (bulky attacker, special attacker, fast enough). Very good design; lands in A given a few designs that edge it out.
Eternal Flower Floette — Amazing look (black/blue, massive flower that feels like a weapon). Very strong Special Attack and Special Defense, relatively fast, and far bulkier than expected. A solid A.
Mega Scolipede — Incredible look (armored plating, extended “sword” antennae) and strong stats. Bug/Poison and some stat distribution choices keep it from S, but the identity is excellent.
Mega Malamar — Shoulder pads, big-brain motif, hypnosis vibe—design carries. Dark/Psychic is great, leans more into Attack; would be higher with bigger base numbers, but still a clear A.
Mega Hawlucha — Fighting/Flying remains great. Strong Attack, fast, and sturdier than it looks. Design is solid (marketing helped sell it); a few flourishes would have pushed it higher, but it belongs in A.
Mega Clefable — A little bulkier than expected with relatively strong Special Attack, but doesn’t exceed in any one area and feels too slow. Utility is respected; sits in B.
Mega Eelektross — The dragon-kite vibe is cool and the utility is strong; bulkier than expected. Base Electric only holds it back—another typing would have vaulted it higher.
Mega Feraligatr — Extremely strong Attack (second-highest in the set), slower but bulky with good Defense. Execution on the redesign lands as “good enough,” so it holds steady in B.
Mega Starmie — Huge stat boost, very fast, flexible, and surprisingly sturdy, but the goofy design undercuts it. Stats keep it in B.
Mega Victreebel — Fun, goofy energy and a surprisingly enjoyable rogue battle; Grass/Poison is fine but uninspiring. Middling defenses and unclear identity keep it here.
Mega Meganium — Fairy typing addition is the best part; beefy and can hit. The floral, vacation-style redesign doesn’t land and stats aren’t enough to elevate it; bottom of C.
Mega Skarmory — Gold look doesn’t do it any favors and it has the lowest overall stats of the new Megas (565). Attack/speed-leaning build clashes with expectations; D tier.
