Pokemon Champions Build Guide
Venusaur is best used as a bulky Grass and Poison-type attacker in Pokemon Champions. Its strongest build is Mega Venusaur, which gives teams staying power, strong defensive typing and reliable pressure into Water, Ground and Fairy-type Pokemon.

Venusaur has two main builds in Pokemon Champions. The Mega Venusaur build is the stronger bulky option, while the Chlorophyll build is better on sun teams that want speed control and Sleep Powder pressure.
This is the main Venusaur build. It focuses on taking hits, spreading pressure and winning longer games with reliable Grass and Poison-type damage.
| Item | Venusaurite |
|---|---|
| Ability | Thick Fat after Mega Evolution |
| Nature | Modest, +Sp. Atk and -Attack |
| Moves | Giga Drain, Sludge Bomb, Leech Seed, Protect |
| Stat Point Spread | HP: 24 / Sp. Atk: 28 / Sp. Def: 10 |
This version uses sun support to become much faster. Use this build when Venusaur is paired with a sun setter and your team wants Sleep Powder plus immediate Grass-type pressure.
| Item | Life Orb or Wide Lens |
|---|---|
| Ability | Chlorophyll |
| Nature | Timid, +Speed and -Attack |
| Moves | Solar Beam, Sludge Bomb, Sleep Powder, Protect |
| Stat Point Spread | HP: 10 / Sp. Atk: 32 / Speed: 20 |
Venusaur and Mega Venusaur are shown together below for easy comparison.
Venusaurite is the best item for the main build because it enables Mega Venusaur and gives Venusaur Thick Fat. This makes Venusaur much harder to remove and improves its matchups into Fire and Ice damage.
Life Orb or Wide Lens are the best options for the Chlorophyll build. Life Orb increases damage, while Wide Lens makes Sleep Powder more reliable, because apparently accuracy is still allowed to ruin civilization.
Venusaur works best with Pokemon that give it sun, protect it from Flying and Psychic threats or help it stay on the field longer.
Venusaur is strong against teams that rely on Water, Ground, Rock, Grass and Fairy-type Pokemon. It can absorb pressure well and punish bulky teams with Leech Seed and Giga Drain.
Mega Venusaur is especially useful into teams that cannot hit it super effectively, while Chlorophyll Venusaur can overwhelm offensive teams when sun is active.
Venusaur is threatened by Flying, Psychic and strong Fire-type damage before Mega Evolution. Teams with fast attackers, Taunt or strong weather control can make Venusaur harder to use.
Threatens Venusaur with fast Flying-type damage and priority pressure.
Uses strong Psychic-type attacks to pressure Venusaur before it can stabilize.
Can threaten Venusaur with Fire and Flying pressure, especially outside of Mega Venusaur matchups.
Venusaur can learn Grass, Poison, Normal and utility moves across different Pokemon games. Use the section below to view the full move list by learn method.

Venusaur is worth using if your team wants a bulky Grass-type Pokemon that can handle Water, Ground and Fairy matchups while still applying steady special damage.
Mega Venusaur is the safer and more consistent build, while Chlorophyll Venusaur is better when your team is already built around sun.
