Pokemon Champions Build Guide
Tyranitar is best used as a bulky physical attacker and sand setter in Pokemon Champions. Its strongest builds focus on weather control, Rock-type pressure and strong Dark-type coverage.

Tyranitar has two main builds in Pokemon Champions. The sand attacker build is the safest option, while the Dragon Dance build can become a late-game win condition.
This is the main Tyranitar build. It uses Sand Stream to control weather while threatening strong Rock and Dark-type damage.

Tyranitar stats are shown below for easy comparison.
Assault Vest is the safest item because it lets Tyranitar take special hits while sand boosts its special bulk.
Lum Berry helps Dragon Dance builds avoid status while setting up.
Tyranitar works best with Pokemon that cover its weaknesses, support its preferred speed control or help it find safer turns.
Tyranitar is strong against Fire, Flying, Psychic and Ghost-type Pokemon. Sand Stream also gives it major value in weather matchups.
Rock Slide gives Tyranitar useful spread pressure into teams that rely on Flying or Fire-type attackers.
Tyranitar is heavily threatened by Fighting-type attacks and also dislikes Water, Grass, Ground, Bug, Steel and Fairy-type damage.
Tyranitar can learn Rock, Dark, Ground, Fighting and coverage moves across different Pokemon games. Use the section below to view the full move list by learn method.
