Best Torterra Builds in Pokemon Champions

Torterra has two main builds in Pokemon Champions. The bulky physical attacker is the safest option, while the setup build can turn Torterra into a late-game win condition.

Build 1: Bulky Grass Ground Attacker

This is the main Torterra build. It uses strong physical attacks and useful typing to pressure Water, Rock, Ground and Electric-type Pokemon.

Item Sitrus Berry or Leftovers
Ability Overgrow
Nature Adamant, +Attack and -Sp. Atk
Moves Wood Hammer, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Protect
Stat Point Spread HP: 28 / Attack: 30 / Sp. Def: 4

Build 2: Shell Smash Sweeper

This version focuses on setup. It can become dangerous after one boost, but it needs support to survive the setup turn.

Item White Herb
Ability Overgrow
Nature Jolly, +Speed and -Sp. Atk
Moves Shell Smash, Wood Hammer, Earthquake, Rock Slide
Stat Point Spread Attack: 30 / Sp. Def: 4 / Speed: 28

Best Items for Torterra

Sitrus Berry is the safest item for bulky Torterra because it gives immediate recovery after taking a hit.

White Herb is the best item for Shell Smash because it restores Torterra’s lowered defenses after setup.

Best Pokemon to Pair with Torterra

Torterra works best with Pokemon that cover its weaknesses, support its preferred speed control or help it find safer turns.

Empoleon

Covers Ice and Flying-type pressure while Torterra handles Electric and Ground matchups.

Torkoal

Threatens Ice and Steel-type Pokemon that can wall Torterra.

Staraptor

Adds Intimidate support and pressures Grass or Bug-type matchups.

What Torterra Is Good Against

Torterra is strong against Water, Rock, Ground and Electric-type Pokemon. Its Ground typing makes it immune to Electric-type attacks.

Earthquake and Wood Hammer give Torterra strong physical pressure into bulky teams.

Potential Counters for Torterra

Torterra is heavily threatened by Ice-type attacks and also dislikes Fire, Flying and Bug-type damage.

Blaziken

Threatens Torterra with Fire-type attacks.

Glalie

Pressures Torterra heavily with Ice-type damage.

Skarmory

Resists Torterra’s main attacks and can wall it defensively.
