Gengar has two main builds in Pokemon Champions. The fast special attacker is the stronger damage option, while the Focus Sash utility build gives teams disruption.

Life Orb is the stronger offensive option when your team can protect Gengar from priority and faster threats.
Gengar works best with Pokemon that cover its weaknesses, support its preferred speed control or help it find safer turns.
Gengar is strong against Psychic, Ghost, Grass and Fairy-type Pokemon. It also pressures support Pokemon with Taunt and Will-O-Wisp.
Icy Wind gives Gengar a useful way to support faster offensive teams with speed control.
Gengar is threatened by Psychic, Ghost, Dark and Ground-type attacks. Its low bulk means it often needs Focus Sash or careful positioning.
Can threaten Gengar with fast Psychic-type damage.
Can pressure Gengar with priority and strong Normal-type coverage if it has the right moves.
Can weaken Gengar’s physical partners and threaten it with strong neutral damage.
