Let’s take a look at some of the injuries the Pittsburgh Steelers have dealt with throughout the 2026 NFL season, looking at both sides of the ball and who is out short- and long-term.
The Steelers enter Week 8 with a 5-2 record and will face their divisional rivals, the Cleveland Browns, at home on Sunday in a huge game with first place in the AFC North on the line.
The Steelers have dealt with a few significant injuries this year, most notably in their wide receiver group. Receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson were both placed on injured reserve earlier this season.
Pittman was expected to be a big addition to the offense this offseason but was placed on injured reserve on October 10 with a foot injury. With it being about three weeks since Pittman was placed on IR, he could become eligible to return in the near future, although his recovery timeline remains unclear.
Wilson was also placed on injured reserve after suffering a finger injury a few weeks ago. Despite these two important losses to the receiving corps, Pittsburgh has managed well offensively but will be eager to get both players back on the field.
Pittsburgh has also dealt with injuries to two of its defensive tackles in Derrick Harmon and Sebastian Joseph-Day. Harmon was placed on IR in early October with a foot injury, while Joseph-Day was placed on injured reserve last week with a triceps injury.
Pittsburgh officially ruled out two defensive backs Friday, while one receiver is questionable.
Cornerback Brandin Echols and defensive back Doneiko Slaughter have both been ruled out for Sunday’s game with hamstring injuries.
Wide receiver Ben Skowronek is also questionable with a calf injury after being limited in practice this week. His availability will be important with the Steelers’ receiver room already thin with the injuries to Pittman and Wilson.
