The Philadelphia Eagles are naming Joe Milton their starting quarterback for Sunday’s Week 9 game against the New York Giants, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Milton will be Philadelphia’s third starting quarterback this season, replacing Tanner McKee, who has started and lost each of the Eagles’ past three games.
The Eagles’ Week 1 starter, Jalen Hurts, is expected to miss the rest of the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in both of his lungs.
The Eagles signed Milton off the Cowboys’ practice squad on Oct. 16, a day before placing Hurts on injured reserve. Although Milton has only been with the Eagles for a matter of weeks, they clearly believe in his potential and upside more than McKee’s.
Milton was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft and served as a backup to Dak Prescott during the 2025 season, appearing in four games off the bench.
The Eagles have lost six consecutive games and enter Week 9 in last place in the NFC East. Despite their rough start to the season, Philadelphia hasn’t lost at home to the Giants since October 2013, which should give them some confidence as they look to earn their first win since Week 2.
