On Thursday the PGA Tour returns for the 2023 Rocket Morgage Classic. The tournament will be hosted by Detroit Country Club and features a 7,340-yard par-72 track. This event boasts an $8.8 million purse.
Last season, Tony Finau secured back-to-back victories. After winning the 3M Open, Finau shot a 26-under 262 the following week at the Rocket Mortage Classic. This performance at the RMC earned him his fourth PGA Tour victory.
The past few weeks have been busy on the Tour. Despite two weeks of PGA-designated events in a row, some big names have opted to enter the field for the upcoming Rocket Mortgage Classic. Tony Finau will return and is looking to defend his title. Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Tom Kim and Keegan Bradley will also be competing.
Rickie Fowler – Fowler has placed in the top ten in three of his last four events. After missing the cut at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last season, Rickie Fowler is looking to bounce back in a big way.
Justin Thomas – The 15-time PGA Tour champion had his first top-ten finish in months last week. JT will try to ride that momentum from last week and finish at the top of the leaderboard once again.
Tom Kim – Kim is a rising star on the PGA Tour. The 21-year-old started his season with a victory in his first start. Since then, it has been a bumpy road. Despite the ups and downs, he has still earned five top-ten finishes this season.
The Rocket Mortgage Classic can be viewed on Golf Channel throughout the tournament. CBS will also be providing coverage of the action on the weekend.
