Will Overwatch 2 be Worth It?

Publish Date: March 3, 2022

The release of Overwatch 2 is rumored to be on the horizon. When the original game initially came out, so many people hopped on the bandwagon. Providing intense team play mechanics, Overwatch paved way for a lot of other shooters today. But as time went on, many players left the game, and the balance updates leave much left to be desired. The soon to be released Overwatch 2 promises more polished gameplay, enhanced co-op vs AI, and general quality of life improvements. There’s honestly a lot of hype surrounding the release. This begs the question, will Overwatch 2 be worth it?

Speculation

When considering this question, players need to consider what exactly they’re looking for. Overwatch as a whole is a great game to play for its team coordination. The sequel should remain the same in this aspect, but hopefully improve upon the system. For those who enjoyed the first Overwatch, definitely try the sequel out when it releases, at least for the PvP options.

Overwatch 2 PvP costs nothing for players who already purchased the original game. This means that for players looking to try team based PvP, definitely give Overwatch 2 a go.

Now, what about the PvE options?

According to sources online, Overwatch 2’s PvE will require a separate purchase. With no price point revealed, analyzing this variable will have to wait until more is shown. And since Blizzard hasn’t revealed PvE nearly at all, it’s really impossible to say at the moment. All the community can do is hope that the PvE mechanics and gameplay are well polished.

In conclusion

For fans who have played and enjoyed the original Overwatch, Overwatch 2 will definitely be worth checking out. Blizzard invested heavily into the sequel, setting very high expectations for the game’s release. And since they have an entire esports scene surrounding the game, there’s a lot of pressure riding on the game’s success.
