Overwatch 2 reintroduced its previous 2CP Assault game mode in Season 20, allowing players to hop back into classic maps like Hanamura and Volskya Industries. However, the mode was only around for a limited time, leaving many wondering if it will return again.
Currently, we do not know if Assault Maps will ever return to Overwatch 2. Developers have only stated the following in the Midseason Patch Notes for Season 20, outlining that the mode would just be around for a short time:
Our best guess is that these classic game modes are likely to do as they have this past weekend, being reintroduced for a short time before being shelved again. This is just speculative, but it wouldn’t be the first time Overwatch 2 devs used this model, with other seasonal and classic game modes coming and going.
