This morning, the Toronto Defiant took to Twitter to announce their new collaboration with Universal Music Canada (UMC). Together, these two companies bring together staples of the Canadian music scene, as well as promoting Canadian esports organizations. The partnership was announced with a minute long video. In the video, Canadian rock band The Beaches spent time with the Defiant’s Brady “Agilities” Girardi.
With the partnership, the Toronto Defiant have obtained exclusive musical content from UMC. This includes original walkout music for the Overwatch League, UMC artists performing at Toronto Defiant Homestand events, and official Spotify playlists curated by fans for the Toronto Defiant community.
UMC hopes that this project engages fans with the idea of combining gaming and music. They also aim to push a focus towards Canadian based artists signed with UMC. With expansion on the horizon, a brand deal with one of the biggest esports organizations in the world is certainly the right step. For more information, keep all eyes on the Toronto Defiant twitter page.
