The time before Season 3 is whittling down, and the hype for certain match ups are starting to arise. There are grudge matches of eternal rivals, friendly pride matches, and matches to prove a point. Here are five matchups that the Tiger Nation should watch out for in the new season.
Match #5 San Francisco Shock
The Netgear Router Rumble. The memes, the belt and so far, the undefeated Shock. The Seoul Dynasty will want to try and take that all away from the Shock when they meet up at their own Seoul homestead during Week 5 on March 8th. The Shock being the Season 2 Champion, there will be a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the Seoul Dynasty to prove that they are a top team in Season 3.
With the role lock, we are fully ready to take away the @NETGEARGaming #RouterRumble belt from @SFShock!

The first time these two will play against each other is in Seoul Dynasty’s homestead during Week 5 on March 8th.
Match #4 London Spitfire
The London Spitfire and the Seoul Dynasty has had a very well-known journey together. From the days of GC Busan stopping Lunatic Hai’s three-peat in APEX to not allowing the Seoul Dynasty to win a match against him in Season 1, London was one of the biggest hurdles of Seoul to overcome. It wasn’t until Season 2 that Seoul finally was able to win a match again London. That doesn’t mean that this rivalry ends, as now Sunghyeok ‘Highly’ Lee is a part of London and is very excited to play against his old team.
Ironically, there is more the London Spitfire now on the Seoul Dynasty with Head Coach Changgeun ‘Changgoon’ Park, Junyoung ‘Profit’ Park, and Jaehui ‘Gesture’ Hong on the team. It is only Jinmo ‘Tobi’ Yang holding it down for Lunatic Hai in Seoul.
The first time these two will play is in Week 22 on July 4 at the Gaungzhou homestead.
Match #3 NYXL
It is no secret that NYXL and the Seoul Dynasty roster (Season 1 and 2) are very close. Everyone knows of Seonghyun ‘Jjonak’ Bang and Ryujehong’s friendship, but Jongryeol ‘Saebyeolbe’ Park, Taehong ‘MekO’ Kim, Donggyu ‘Mano’ Kim, Haeseong ‘Libero’ Kim all have close connections. Mano and Miro are the best friend main tanks, SBB and Ryujehong captain time, Libero and Byungsun ‘Fleta’ Kim, as well as Joonhyeok ‘Zunba’ Kim and MekO hang outs. These two teams have played many Overwatch World Cup tournaments with mixed rosters. We have seen the friendly rivalry from APEX to the Overwatch League. It was an iconic win for the Tiger Nation when Seoul finally beat NYXL as the best moment possible. We will see how this team friendship and rivalry evolves as the teams grow and change.
The first time these two will play against each other is in Week 24 on July 18th at the Shanghai homestead.
Match #2 Hangzhou Spark
It was the Hangzhou Spark that knocked the Seoul Dynasty out of the playoffs during Season 2. It was a painful experience for the Tiger Nation. The team and the fan will want to see the Seoul Dynasty beat the Hangzhou Spark this upcode season to prove a point. It doesn’t help that the Spark hasn’t made many changes to the roster looking eerily familiar to the team that beat them in playoffs.
The first time these two will play against each other is in Week 2 on February 15 at the Shanghai homestead.
Match #1 Vancouver Titans
Lunatic Hai and Runaway have had a long history not only as rivals but also as friends. It was Runner who ‘discovered’ Ryujehong and also is the co-leader and boss (along with Flowervin) of Runaway. Stitch and Haksal has quite the attachment to the Seoul Dynasty team. They have faced off and hung out since the beginning of Overwatch in Korea.

It cannot be forgotten that the Vancouver Titans have acquired Ryujehong and Fissure, two Seoul Dynasty members. If you have seen any stream in which the Seoul Dynasty (past or present) members run into each other there is always a target on the opposing member’s back. It will be fun to see how the two teams interact in and out of the game. There will be plenty of trash talk and teasing before, during, and after the match knowing these two teams.
The first time these two will play against each other is in week 4 on March 1 at the Hangzhou homestead.
Honorable Mention: Dallas Fuel
The rivalry between these two teams span back to APEX. The Dallas Fuel, essentially EnvyUs, had never beaten the Seoul Dynasty, Lunatic Hai, until Season 2 of the Overwatch League. The core members of each of the original line ups are gone, but the org and fan rivalry still exists. It will be fun to see how the next generation of players for each organization matches up to uphold this legacy rivalry.

The first time these two will play against each other is in Week 4 February 29th during the Hangzhou Homestead.
