Information was released today on the Overwatch League website concerning the contracts for players competing in the 2019 OWL season as well as some information about the monetary contracts of league players. Before getting into which players are signed and which are free agents, here is the information that was shared concerning their earnings, per the article:
“In 2019, the average player earned USD $114K—comprising a $97K base salary, $16K from prize-pool winnings, and $1K from signing bonuses. The median player salary was $80K. The league minimum player salary is $50K plus benefits.”
While the article does not specify which players are making what salary, this is a good indication of where things are at in terms of the bigger picture.
Big Names and Their Contract Status’s
Below are some of the bigger name players and their contract information. Again, this does not indicate what players are making, just whether they are under contract or have become free agents.
Most Notable Free Agents
- Kristian “Kellex” Keller
- Lucas “Note” Meissner
- Joona “Fragi” Laine
- Daniel “Boink” Pence
- Lane “Surefour” Roberts
- Jun-Woo “Void” Kang

There are several players who remain under contract or who have a Team Option. However, regardless of whether a player is currently signed, a free agent, or has a Team Option, there is still a chance they will either be cut, traded, or re-signed throughout the offseason.
The Game Haus will continue to provide updates on news surrounding player contract information as free agency begins open October 7. As a reminder, teams have until Nov. 11 to exercise their option to retain these players before they become unrestricted free agents, which means that a great deal of these contract details may not be finalized until late into the offseason.
As a reminder, all of the current offseason changes will be continuously updated in TGH’s Complete List of Overwatch League Offseason Moves.
