With that, The Game Haus Overwatch crew has some thoughts on who is winning each matchup and ultimately coming out on top. Here are the TGH Overwatch League 2021 Playoffs Predictions. Anyone looking to get their last-minute Pick’Ems for the OWL playoffs predictions in can do so here.
*Note: Each person who submitted will have their own section with their bracket and a reason why they picked the team they did to win it all in 2021.
The Shanghai Dragons are the deadliest team in the Playoffs. They possess the highest ceiling, the strongest adaptability, and the greatest versatility. Shanghai are equipped to deal with any opponent in the Playoffs.
It is foolish to count out the defending champions so early. Many see the Shock as weak, mostly due to their not making it to any of the tournaments. Yet they are still fearsome. San Fran are still one of the top teams in the league, and when angered, they can take down anyone.
The Gladiators are peaking at the right time. They have shown extreme proficiency at all styles of play and have the ability to adapt to any opponent. The biggest key for victory for them is to make sure they are playing their game and to not get into their own heads.
I believe that the Gladiators have the best chance at winning the 2021 OWL playoffs. While Shanghai or Dallas may have a good chance at continuing their season-overarching dominance, I believe that LA’s momentum going into the playoffs is going to be key. The Gladiators are the only team going into playoffs right off of a tournament win – and if OWL fans have learned anything it’s that the endgame is much more vital than how you started.
While I expect to see Shanghai continue their reign of dominance throughout the playoffs, I also expect to see the Fuel and the Reign hit a downwards trajectory. The Fuel saw a slight decline in play in the Summer Showdown, while the Reign seemed gutted in the Countdown Cup. I’m prepared to eat my words here, but I’m fully predicting a playoff bracket dominated by the ever-formidable Dragons and Hunters, a recovering San Francisco Shock, and a resurgent Los Angeles Gladiators.
The Shanghai Dragons have served as the resident raid boss in the APAC region. They head into the playoffs as a huge favorite, and the meta at the moment looks to be in their favor. On the other side of the bracket the Gladiators appear to have hit their stride heading into the postseason. It’ll be a close final, but Shanghai’s MVP DPS line is surely the X-factor they need to take home the title.
I am still of the opinion that Shanghai should have won last year. This year they get their revenge and not only make their first-ever Grand Finals but also take home the trophy. What this organization has done to turn things around is outstanding and this would be the perfect way to finish their hero arc.
