The Seoul Dynasty has for the longest time been associated with the legacy of Lunatic-Hai. The face of the team was for the beginning of the season was Jehong ‘Ryujehong’ Jehong. Later on in Season 3, though, it was Jaehui ‘Gesture’ Hong who was the official captain of the team, it was Jinmo ‘Tobi’ Yang that was most closely associated with the League team. Now with all the players of Lunatic-Hai gone, who really is the face of the team?
The easiest answer would be Profit. Even starting last season, he was seen in many of the team content as well as the league content. He was seen in most Seoul Dynasty content both photo and multimedia. He also made an appearance at the APAC team after-show choosing segment. Players such as Byungsun ‘Fleta’ Kim who can be argued is the face of the Shanghai Dragons also appears next to Coach Moon. This showed that though Gesture was the captain, Profit was just as much a face for the team.
He was the personality that was toted and not a big change from how he was marketed when on the London Spitfire. He was Mr. 10,000 and the star DPS player that would come out in the playoffs. As Season 4 comes along, it doesn’t make sense to have him step back from that position completely, though there is a new player being integrated into the team that could also occupy that space.

The Season 4 pick-up is in a similar position as Profit. He was the face (or co-face along with Sunghyeon ‘Jjonak’ Bang) of the NYXL in previous seasons. It was an interesting turn of events that in the few promotional images that have been seen, it is Saebyeolbe who is in front. This shows that he is already being put in a position to be seen as a leader. Though he is a natural player to select there is still Gesture and Profit who has been in those positions last season. To bring Saebyeolbe in means that there are multiple strong leaders on the team. Hopefully, that will be an asset rather than an issue in the season ahead.
Though it has only been a short amount of time since he has joined the team, he has been seen in a lot of content. It was Saebyeolbe who took place in the experimental card round table that had many different players. He has been in most photo arrays that have been posted. As well as being one of the players who sat next to Changgoon during the scrims against the Washington Justice, the other player being Profit. He brings a lot of potential, and with his chaotic funny energy is the perfect addition to the team.
Though it is obvious that it is Saebyeolbe and Profit leading in the race of who is the face of the Dynasty there is a question of who fits the position the best in the future. To that, the response would have to be Hyeonwoo ‘Toyou’ Lim. He has not only a great representation of Gen.G and all that they have achieved in creating a sustainable model of Overwatch from T3 to the Overwatch League but also already possesses many of the skills a leader needs.
Toyou is a smart and thoughtful player that is a hard worker. He understands the players who will be rookies coming into the Overwatch League from Contenders as well as will understand the inner workings of the Seoul Dynasty. Toyou will be the perfect bridge and is a homegrown player. The potential that Toyou is not only a great off-tank player but also a top-class leader and face of the team in later seasons.
It is nice to see the Seoul Dynasty are integrating him into more content such as social media posts. Having him alongside Gesture and Saebyeolbe definitely shows his potential branding. This season is a great opportunity to have him alongside the greats and build his leadership confidence as well as have the community gain confidence with him.
All of these names are of past leaders of past teams. That isn’t a bad thing. They have experience and the know-how to get through certain situations. It does seem odd, not a bad odd just odd, to have a transplant from one team to another as the face of the Seoul Dynasty. Less with Profit and Gesture, as they were on the team last season, but with Saebyeolbe and Taesung ‘Anamo’ Jung they are still freshly associated with the NYXL. Surely after the adjustment period, the new members will fit in just as the old London players did.
It doesn’t have to be either-or. Both players can occupy the spot. But when it comes down to it who is that representative player that fans will think of when they think of the Seoul Dynasty? When it is marketing and promoting who will take up those responsibilities? Only time will tell, but to have such legends on one team is any APEX fans’ dream come true.
