Currently, the Seoul Dynasty only have one player on their team. Though that one player is arguably the best player a team could have in the form of Junyoung ‘Profit’ Park. Myeonghwan ‘Smurf’ Yoo and Jungwoo ‘Vindaim’ Park have been vocal in the fact that they did not want to leave the team, which then can be assumed that the budget was a major factor when it came to planning the team. The Seoul Dynasty put out a tryout post for players. As a long-time Seoul Dynasty fan, there is a certain look that would be the ‘dream’ team of what is left to work with.
Tank
There is going to be a common theme throughout most of these picks. To start off with the tank role, Hyeonwoo ‘Toyou’ Lim has to be the pick. He has grown so much since he was last on the Seoul Dynasty. As the main tank for Sin Prisa, Toyou has shown that he is able to be an effective tank in the five-player setup. He knows the HQ, Jinmo ‘Tobi’ Yang who is the head coach, and the general vibe that the Seoul Dynasty have. Smurf is a hard act to follow, but pulling a Gen.G alum back up to Seoul could make a great narrative throughout the season.
Support
To continue on with ‘bring back Gen.G’ there is Gyumin ‘Sanguinar’ Lim. Though most will remember Sanguinar from London Spitfire in 2019-2020; he was first on Gen.G B which was a Tier 3 team under Gen.G. He was an up-and-coming talent that got pulled to Tier 1 before even touching contenders. He has lately been on Sin Prisa alongside Toyou. This would give the team a leg up when it comes to the synergy between the players. Sanguinar has shown that he is eager to learn and has a high potential ceiling to continue to grow.
Soomin ‘LEESOOMIN’ Lee is another Gen.G alum playing on Sin Prisa Gaming. Many of the Gen.G contender players went to Sin Prisa after Gen.G’s contender team disbanded. Though there is no release post for LEESOOMIN, his Ana and Zen play goes well with Sanguinar.
An honorable mention needs to go to Somyung ‘Bliss’ Kim. Gen.G had him on their contender’s team since 2019. He was the baby of the group with immense skill and potential. Many fans were waiting for the day that Bliss would age up into the Overwatch League where he would take his spot on the Seoul Dynasty. Unfortunately, Bliss will not be with the Seoul Dynasty this season but will be representing the Dallas Fuel for the sixth season of the Overwatch League.
DPS
As mentioned above Profit is already a player that is locked in for this season. With Dongeon ‘FITS’ Kim leaving the team, there is a gap for a hitscan player. Though it would be hard for the casters, Hyunbin ‘Prophet’ Kim would be a great fit. His performance on O2 has had his team in first for the year of 2022. If it wasn’t for Donghyun ‘Proper’ Kim already being on the San Francisco Shock, no doubt Prophet would have been picked up. Prophet can bring the Cassidy, Widow, Sojourn role within the team. There have been no social media announcements around Prophet so it is hard to tell where he is market-wise for the Overwatch League. He should be one of the hottest rookies coming into the new season with raw mechanical skill and past performance backing him.
Meanwhile, Seungyong ‘TopDragon’ Jeong has had a farewell post from Sin Prisa gaming. He is another alum of Gen.G. The organization held on to him as long as they could by loaning him out to other teams. Though it would be sad to see Topdragon without Bliss of the Seoul Dynasty, it would feel nice knowing one of the two came home. Topdragon’s hero pool does overlap with Profit’s quite a bit, but it is very reminiscent of last season with Hakyong ‘Stalk3r’ Jeong.
Season 6 Seoul Dynasty
There is little to no knowledge about the APAC region when it comes to players on teams. It will be interesting to see how Tobi and the Dynasty will decide to build around Profit. If the team is going low budget, what is a better way than have it be a homecoming to the Gen.G contenders team? The existing synergy between the Sin Prisa, Gen.G alums, would give the whole team a leg up as well as their knowledge of the organization as a whole. Tiger Nation can only wait and see what the team just ultimately decides to do.
