OWL Player Creates Art Contest Offering $10,000 in Prizes

Publish Date: July 15, 2019

Today, Los Angeles Gladiators DPS player, Lane “Surefour” Roberts kicked off a contest that is set to award artists drawing a character he created for himself named Tisumi. Participants submit their drawings using the hashtag #MyTisumi and the top ten submissions will each receive $1,000, for a grand total of $10K in prizes.

Hello wonderful artists, I want to start up this $10k contest today for you all!

The goal will be to draw my character Tisumi and post it with #MyTisumi.
Her predominant feature is purple hair and you can draw her in any style you wish!https://t.co/5QhauNfhcJ pic.twitter.com/fq5oWqhLdn

More details including the dates of submissions, how to submit work and more can be found in a Google Doc that is also linked in the above tweet by Surefour.

Who is Tisumi?

The origins of this character date back early into Surefour’s Overwatch career. Back on one of his earlier streams, well before the OWL existed, Surefour gave this explanation in-game about the origins of this character.

Others, however, have seen a different origin for the character…

Giving Back

Wherever this character may or may not come from, it is refreshing to see OWL pros giving back to the community that supports them. Other players have in the past, however, they have typically been the result of some sort of punishment issued to the player. This, to the author’s knowledge, is the first giveaway/contest of its kind held by an OWL player.

The contest is set to run through the end of August, be sure to tune back in around then to see which artists produce the best renditions of one of OWL’s favorite players.
