Publish Date: December 10, 2019

The sleigh bells have started ringing and the snow has started to fall: It’s officially time for Overwatch’s 2019 Winter Wonderland to begin. Here are all the details players will need to get started earning new skins and cosmetic items in this year’s winter event.

Weekly Challenges

As is the trend with Overwatch’s seasonal events, players will have the chance to participate in weekly challenges to unlock sprays and skins unique to the Winter Wonderland event. This particular year gives players the opportunity to unlock the new Ugly Seater Solider: 76 skins and sprays, as well as the new skins and sprays for Mercy and Moira.

  • Week 1 – December 10-17: Ugly Sweater: 76
  • Week 2 – December 17-24: Holly (Moira)
  • Week 3 – December 24-January 2: Snow Angel (Mercy)

New Unlockable Skins

Outside of the challenges, this year has its usual batch of new skins for players to unlock. Those can be seen in their entirety in this gallery. It’s definitely worth checking out, this year has some incredible new skins available for purchase for a variety of heroes.

Also, don’t forget that the previous year’s Winter Wonderland skins are now purchasable again, so hurry to get those past skins you may have missed out on.

Mini-Games in Arcade

As expected, Mei’s Yeti Hunter and Mei’s Snowball Offensive mini-games have been brought back into the Arcade rotation with this year’s winter seasonal event. These, in addition to a new mode called Snowball Deathmatch. Per the official announcement on the website:

“In this eight-person free-for-all brawl, players can store up to three lethal snowballs in Mei’s blaster, giving them multiple chances to ice the competition before having to reload. Earn three new achievements and unlock unique sprays for proving your worth in the frosty fray.”

These are definitely a fun break to traditional game modes and are really fun games to stream. Play them before they’re gone!

Visual Updates to Maps

Last but not least, several of Overwatch’s beautiful maps will now feature snow and all sorts of holiday joy. Whether on King’s Row, Hanamura or elsewhere, be sure to enjoy the festivities across the Overwatch universe.

So, be sure to download the latest update and get out there to play in the snowy wonderland of the newest patch update. And, while you’re at it, let us know what your favorite part of this year’s winter event is in the comments or on social media, we’d love to hear from you!
