Week 2 of the second stage of the 2019 Overwatch League season has continued to supply top quality plays. As teams become further antiquated with the newest patch and the new hero Baptiste, many have begun to veer further and further away from a constant 3-3 (GOATS) composition. This is affirmed through this week’s Top 10, featuring plays from Symmetra, Genji and even Tracer. But which takes the top spot?
Last week it was Chengdu, this week it’s Vancouver. The question is not when, but who will use Symmetra next?
Cai “Krystal” Shilong has integrated rather quickly with the Spark roster, as this play clearly demonstrates. Keep an eye on him in the coming weeks as he continues to find his footing. Also, as a note, this is the second consecutive week that Bastion has appeared in the top 10. Is this the new normal now?
Although this angle does not do this play justice, it’s a nice one nonetheless. The reigning league MVP, Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang, evades a primal rage dive, gets a sleep dart off, and strafes his way to safety. He was known for his Ana before his time in the OWL and he’s showing fans why with plays like these.
Florida had just a sliver of hope on Junkertown. But hope, especially against NYXL, is a very dangerous thing. Tae-hong “MekO” Kim ended that small hope when he pressed “Q” in this play.
In another play where the camera angle doesn’t do the play justice, Min-seok “OGE” Son absolutely terrorizes the Paris backline. This play had viewers and analysts giving OGE’s Primal Rage mechanics some serious praise. Rightly so, it seems.
In a last-second effort to recontest the point, Seung-hyun “Ivy” Lee rips a Nano-Blade that sends the Fusion back to spawn. Hitting this play against anti-Genji targets like Brigitte, Wrecking Ball and Sombra make this a highlight play in and of itself.
Memes aside, this is an insane play from JJoNaK in his second top 10 play of the week. Just before this, the Justice knocked off a couple of NYXL players. Some Zenyatta’s would have run. Not this Zenyatta. Instead, he nets four final blows and NYXL caps the point.
Without a shield, the Fusion could do nothing in the face of the glowing death ball of Jun-ho “Fury” Kim. In a fight that was set to decide the series, Fury continues to demonstrate his value for London in a very important mid-table matchup.
Houston surges in to attempt a last-second hold and keep their upset dreams alive. In a flash, the mech of yeon-Woo “JJANU” Choi disappears over the rooftop over the archway. Just as the Outlaws realize what is happening, it’s too late. Game, set, match.
In this week’s top play, Atlanta combines a zoning Dragonstrike and a Pulse Bomb from Joon “Erster” Jeong for a devastating team kill. It’s a bit of nostalgia to see a pulse bomb net more than taking down a tank’s damage and actually getting some final blows. By the time the gong had sounded, Erster had six and the Justice were back in spawn.
