João Pedro “Hydration” Goes Telles has been a mainstay for the Los Angeles Gladiators since the beginning of the Overwatch League. His projectile DPS play has been a constant for the Gladiators throughout the first season, and his transition onto the Brigitte role in a GOATS comp has been stable as well. The DPS duo of Hydration and Lane “Surefour” Roberts is one to be feared in the Overwatch League.
Last season, he was 16th in damage per 10 minutes. We sat down with Hydration to ask a few questions before the second week of the Overwatch League.
What got you into Overwatch in the first place?
The game looked fun. It was different from everything else. I thought it was really original.
How do you like living in LA? What is your favorite part?
My favorite thing is eating. The food here is insane.
What are your favorite places to eat?
Japanese BBQ and Korean BBQ. It’s really good.
What was the off-season like for you?
It was very long and very boring.

We scrim. Lots of scrimming.
What are you most looking forward to for the upcoming season?
Playing all the new teams and the new players.
Who do you think is the most exciting of the expansion teams?
Chengdu, they are very unique.
Who do you think is the most improved team from last year?
Probably the San Francisco Shock.
Speaking of the Shock, you guys had a pretty close game against them on Sunday, how big of a win was that for you guys?
It was pretty big and important. Especially for this stage.
Do you have any predictions for Stage 1?
I’m not too sure, honestly. It’s a difficult one to predict, so I’m not sure.
How is it having the new guys on the team?
It’s good. They have a lot of different experiences coming in.
Who do you think is the best new player to the Overwatch League?
Probably Dafran?
Do you have a game you are most looking forward to this year?
There’s not one that stands out in particular, I just want to win them all!
What would you change about the meta right now if you could?
I honestly think the meta is fine right now. It is very diverse.
How was the crowd reaction to Surefour jumping onto the Symmetra in the game versus the Dynasty?
I couldn’t hear the crowd because of our mics, so I couldn’t really tell. But people were getting hyped up for it.
Who came up with that crazy play?
*laughs* He did.
Not shocked about that one at all! What is the team atmosphere like on a daily basis?
It’s very friendly and very chill.
I know you’re busy with the Overwatch League, but have you been playing Apex Legends at all?
I have not, I am one of the few who hasn’t, I think.
Prediction for the game on Saturday against the Paris Eternal?
Hmm… 3-2, hopefully.
Do you think it will be a fight through and through, or will you have to pull of the reverse sweep?
It will be a fight through and through, very close.
Awesome, thank you for your time!
No problem, thank you.
