Next year will be Overwatch League’s first time hosting official games outside of the Blizzard Arena. There are already three dates selected throughout the year in which all matches set for that week will be played outside of Burbank, California.
These special road games will start off in Stage 2, where week 4 will be played in Dallas Fuel’s home turf. During Stage 3, we will be taken to the East Coast, all the way to Atlanta Reign’s territory, and on Stage 4, we’re coming back to The Golden State for a game that will be held by the Los Angeles Valiant.
Out of these three events, only the details for the event in Dallas have been released, so we’re going to take a look at everything you need to know.
The Games
As the doors open on Saturday, April 27th, we will have a spectacular game between two teams that will be fighting over who reigns superior over Europe. Paris Eternal will be facing Overwatch League’s Inaugural Season Champions, London Spitfire, in the first match of the first on-road games in the League’s history!
It will be until the afternoon, when Dallas Fuel will take the home stage for the first time. A match against LA Valiant will have them facing a tough opponent, but with their recent roster changes, we can only speculate who will emerge victorious, as nothing is written in stone anymore.
The second day of the event will feature the highlight of the whole weekend, the Battle for Texas. As the closing act of the event, Dallas Fuel will be facing the Houston Outlaws in the rivalry’s most important game to date, as they will be standing in home soil.
Last season, the Outlaws managed to stay undefeated in the matches against Fuel. However, this year we have Won-Sik “Closer” Jung, Richard “rCk” Kanerva and Zachary “Zachareee” Lombardo to bolster Dallas’ forces. Houston signed Dante “Danteh” Cruz on a DPS spot, and even if this is the only addition to the roster, it’s not something to underestimate.
The Venue
The venue in which the matches will be held is located just North of Dallas, it will be none other than the Allen Event Center. This arena has a capacity of up to 8,600 people but we fear it will not be enough to hold everyone that will want to go!
This multi-purpose arena has been the host of many big events in the past, like the Miss Texas pageant. It is currently the home stadium of the ECHL team the Allen Americans and also the Dallas Sidekicks, a team member of the Major Arena Soccer League. It also used to be the home of the indoor football team, Texas Revolution, before they moved to Frisco.
The Tickets
Various ticket offers are available, and the price ranges from high to low. Obviously the most expensive tickets are going to be closer to the stage, and the cheaper ones are going to be more far away. However, the part that is worth talking about the tickets, is the upgrades.
You have two options available, the $30 USD one, called the Master Upgrade, gives you access to the event’s swag bag. It is described to include a drawstring bag with the event’s logo, a commemorative bracelet, a 3D laminated badge of the event, and a commemorative lanyard.
The $80 USD upgrade, the Grand Master Upgrade, is a lot bigger. With it you will have access to a player meet & greet, which will probably be with the members of the Dallas Fuel, as well as a signing session. Apart from this, you will also be granted access to enter the venue early and will receive the swag bag as well.
You can gets your tickets right here, but you’ll have to hurry up, because they’re selling fast!
