After a teaser on Thursday December 10, the NYXL have revealed some of their new acquisitions for 2021. On Friday December 11, the New York Excelsior announced the re-signing of Dong-wook “BiaNcA” Kim and the signing of Gyeong-yu “Yakpung” Jo as their tank line. Yakpung will be filling in as the main tank, while BiaNcA will reprise his role as the off tank.
BiaNcA spent 2020 with the New York Excelsior, but split plenty of that play time with fellow off tank Hong-joon “HOTBA” Choi. BiaNcA was one of the few call-ups from the now-defunct XL2 academy team. After being released into free agency earlier this year, it looks like the New York Excelsior are willing to give the young off tank a second chance.

Yakpung joins the league for the second time, after a short stint with the Toronto Defiant. During that 2019 season, Yakpung lead the team to a reasonable 7-7 record before the team switch into an all-western direction. After the season the main tank went back to Korean Contenders to prove himself OWL ready once again. On O2 Blast, Yakpung helped the team reach a first place finish in Season 1 of 2020 Korean Contenders.
The recent announcement leads New York with three members on the roster for 2021. Expect plenty more news soon as the team needs to have seven players on the roster by the end of January.
