The answer of yes, to Overwatch cross-play, is one that has been met with a lot of excitement. One of the main reasons was that it was completely unexpected. With all of the updates for Overwatch 2 and nothing for the original Overwatch, many had just assumed that they had given up on doing anything for the current title.

While this is likely more of a sign for what is to come with Overwatch 2, there is no doubt that in the remaining time of Overwatch original, that fans will enjoy this being added to the game.

There are some aspects to cross-play that will not be making it and others that will come later. An example of this is that ranked play across platforms will not be available. There are plenty of other questions that can have their answers found on the PlayOverwatch website.

This is certainly a step in the right direction for Overwatch and the Overwatch team. They are clearly listening to the crowd and giving their fans things that they have been asking for since the game came out.
