This upcoming weekend we’re going into the last big tournament of the 2020 season of the Overwatch League; The Countdown Cup. Teams in the NA region face each other, as well as the APAC teams, face one another. The top four teams of the NA will pick one of the teams, that progress from the knockout round, to play against. It’s all a matter of picking the right team for oneself and hoping it’s the right one.

Since the Florida Mayhem are the fourth team in the top four they get whatever is left from the knockout round. Looking at the teams in the knockout bracket it seems more likely for the Mayhem to end up going against the LA Valiant or the Atlanta Reign. The top three would play against the ‘weaker’ so they can advance quicker, leaving the tougher team for the Mayhem making it harder to progress with a 3-0 win. The Atlanta Reign and the LA Valiant are number five and six in the top 12 respectively.

This team is currently the sixth team in the NA region, making them a viable option for the Mayhem to play against. The Valiant have been playing a lot better compared to the 2019 season where they ended 13 in the rankings. This season the Valiant played better, with better communication and team plays. They adapted better to the current meta and they had an overall better play style. Johannes ”Shax” Nielsen his recall is phenomenal he saved himself more than once using Tracers recall at the right moment. Seeing him and Min ”Yaki” Yungi going against each other on Tracer could result in some clutch plays for both teams. Both players have an exceptional Tracer play, if the meta allows it those two players could make or break team fights and potential the win or loss of their teams.

Being the fifth team in the NA standings it makes them a threat to the Florida Mayhem. The Reign have their tank Park ‘Pokpo’ Hyeonjun who is a good counter against Mayhems Koo ‘Fate’ Panseung. Both players are able to fit in the double shield meta, making it tougher on each other and their opponents to get through the shields. If both teams their DPS players can work around the shield meta and get a good pick off this can lead to a win for either team. Depending on who is faster, places their shields, ults, and right clicks faster. Fans expect these teams to not let each other go down easy. Expecting a match that would be going to distance.
