Florida Mayhem: Stage 2 Week 5 Preview

Publish Date: May 2, 2019

The Florida Mayhem had the fourth week of this stage off and are as prepared as they can be going into their final game. The Mayhem have been competitive in every match so far this stage but their first stage win still eludes them. Going into the fifth and final week, the Mayhem have only one game against the Dallas Fuel, and it may be a close one.

Dallas Fuel (4-2-0 This Stage)

The Dallas Fuel hosted the first ever Overwatch League home games last week and it seemed to go off without a hitch. The Fuel themselves scored two wins last week, however they were both over weaker teams. The game against the Houston Outlaws was quite close too, which should raise some questions about Dallas’ legitimacy as a top eight team. The Fuel may also have not had their regular amount of time to prepare for this upcoming game. This is because they had to fly interstate, play two games and participate in further fan meet-ups and content. Despite this, Dallas has looked quite solid this stage and will serve as a difficult final match for the Florida Mayhem.

The Mayhem have been experimenting recently with DPS compositions and other more wacky compositions as well. This could be the key to winning maps in this series for Florida as Koo “Xepher” Jae-mo is the more flexible Off-tank in the matchup. The Fuel almost always plays Lucas “NotE” Meissner for all four of their maps; this means they will generally play D.Va. If NotE flexes off D.Va it will be a great opportunity for Florida to exploit this inexperience and poor mechanical skill in a mirror DPS composition matchup. Assuming Dallas plays NotE on D.Va, Jo “HaGoPeun” Hyeon-woo will need to play more Zenyatta than Ana if they want to stand a chance.

Player to Watch:

Lee “BQB” Sang-bum

BQB is known as a Sombra and off-meta hero specialist. He may end up in a Sombra mirror match here against Dylan “AKM” Bignet or Zachary “ZachaREEE” Lombardo. BQB will need to prove why he is known as a Sombra specialist in this match in order for Florida to have a chance to win.

Prediction:

Dallas Fuel 3 – Florida Mayhem 1
